Daniel Tamm

Daniel Tamm began organizing politically in the spring of 2003, helping to build and mobilize a significant grassroots organization in Greater Los Angeles for the presidential election of 2004.

 

Appreciating the opportunity to make a difference, he co-founded Valley Grassroots for Democracy, was elected to the Executive Board of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley and serves as a delegate to the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee. Mr. Tamm is also a member of the Executive Board of the California Democratic Party.

 

Mr. Tamm progressed through service on campaign staffs from Field Director and Communications Director, to Political Director and Campaign Manager. He has helped to elect two Mayors of Los Angeles, a Member of Congress, a Board of Education Member, a California State Senator, a pair of LA City Council Members and a President of the United States.

 

His work with labor associations includes defeating ballot propositions that would harm working families and organizing pressure on corporations to negotiate fair contracts.

 

Mr. Tamm met Barack Obama in the spring of 2007. Daniel helped to facilitate the creation and coordination of Congressional District Organizing Teams – the foundation of the successful OFA organizing model nationwide, which employed the organizing ethos of “Respect. Empower. Include.”

 

He served on Sen. Obama’s staff as Regional Field Director in Southern California and with the rural field campaign in Missouri.

 

Daniel directed outreach for Imagine LA – empowering faith communities to help end family homelessness. He set the organization on course to fulfill their matched family goals for 2011.

 

Through Common Good Campaigns, Daniel helped organize political action for the California Clean Money Campaign to guide SB 52,  the California DISCLOSE Act, winning the State Senate vote. He worked with the “Yes on 34” campaign in an effort o replace the death penalty  in California and recently helped direct community and political outreach for the successful Garcetti for Mayor 2013 campaign in Los Angeles.

 

For many years, Daniel enjoyed creative fulfillment an an actor, director and producer (mainly in New York theatre). Daniel lives in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angles with his wife and son (plus several other members of the animal kingdom). He volunteers at his church and at his son’s school.
